Pacific Islands Bible College on Guam is where I worked for the 2006 - 2007 academic year as a Dean of Women. As Dean of women (AKA "House Mother") I have many responsibilities include, mentoring, counseling, disciplinarian, transportation specialist, first aid, "mom", historian, cheerleader, and basically whatever else needs to be done to help the students get through school.
In the spring, I also had the great opportunity to be part of the faculty and taught the Personality Development Course.
The school was started in the 1970's on the island of Tol in the state of Chuuk as MIBS (Micronesian Institute of Biblical Studies)... However in the early 1990's a Guam campus was added and the institute became Pacific Islands Bible College. The school was started with help from Liebenzell International. It's purpose it to "Build Servant Leaders". The hope is have Micronesia not just to be a mission field but to be a "mission force".
Of course we have a wide variety of students including some from outside of Micronesia, with a variety of different personal goals. Not all will become missionaries or pastors but we hope many will be encouraged to serve the Lord with all their hearts in some capacity throughout their lives.
Check out the website which got a new design in the last year....
